Today’s final preemie pattern is one of my favorites, the little spring duckie. It’s modified from my full size pattern, available on Ravelry and Etsy. You can also buy it directly here.
Pattern
With yellow yarn, start with the basic beanie body, but only make one row of SC. Do not fasten off.
Switch yarn to orange. Fold hat in half and SC across half the length (this basic beanie is 36 stitches, so SC for 18 st.)
Ch1, turn. scdec in first stitch, *1 SC in next 2 st, 2sc in next stitch*, repeat until last 2 stitches. scdec in last 2 stitches. Do not turn.
Continue SC down the side and all around the back of the hat. SC back up the other side of the brim. scdec in first 2 st, 1 SC in each st across to last 2 st, scdec in last 2 st. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Sew little black buttons on for eyes. I use 1/2″ to 3/4″ depending on how big my hat is.
You can also easily adapt this hat pattern to a baseball hat style in any team color combo you want, and if you’re feeling ambitious, sew some team logos on. The sky’s the limit!
I hope you’ve enjoyed these little patterns and are inspired to make some of your own tiny hats. Happy crocheting!!
